Feijoa Fruit Industry and Hedge Maze open window of opportunity for Tingha
Growing Feijoas is an emerging horticultural industry in Australia and Tingha has the opportunity through the Tingha Regeneration Program to become a key industry player in propagation of trees for commercial and home garden demand.
Feijoas are perfect for Hedges, Home Garden, Landscaping, Shade Trees and they are also attractive when grown in large decorative pots. They are hardy and tolerant to temperature extremes from –7c to 40c. They can be trained into thick, fire retardant hedges in just a few seasons.
The trees can grow to a shady 5m or be pruned with potential for a fruitful bonus, bearing a fruit which is highly concentrated in flavour and the juice/puree is in growing demand for food processing and drinks. The fruit is uniquely tasty with excellent healthy properties.
Feijoa Hedge Maze a symbol of Tingha’s “breaking the cycles” initiative
A Hedge maze symbolizing how life’s journey takes us down different path and causes us to make choices in life has been planted to provide children of Tingha with a focus for making healthy choices for healthy lives. Featuring over 2000 trees, the Maze will become a feature attraction for visitors and community as it develops.
