Did you know…there is a Natural Science of Community Regeneration?
This Australia grown and tested Natural Science is now being used to naturally regenerate the community of Tingha.
The following is a progressive summary of Program activities and outcomes.

TRI receives grant of $2398 under the Telstra Connected Seniors program
A milestone is reached with the erection of the first of 5 Propagation and Growing Tunnels as part of the Border Rivers Gwydir CMA part funded project to establish a Nursery at Tingha for growing Native Species for the region.
The Feijoa Australia Trust is formed - registered Office in Tingha - as a major Economic Devleoment that will progressively see Tingha and District become the National Centre for propagation of Trees for the emerging Feijoa Industry (See Information on our website Brochures Page)
Confirmation of a $10,000 Grant to establish a Senior's Broadband Internet Kiosk in the emerging Tingha Community Technology Centre. “Broadband for Seniors” is Federal Government initiative funded through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Successful negotioations to relocate the Propagation Nursery for the Australian Feijoa Industry from Queensland to Tingha district.
Upgrades to TRI Office in prepration for establishment of a Community Technology Centre, to provide public Internet Access and a host of community support information services.
Work commences under a BEST Employment Work for the Dole Team to Regenerate Tingha Gems Caravan Park in preparation for establishment of the Tingha Rocks Community Nursery and Worm Farm

3 Job Networks (meet with TRI and Anaiwan LALC members to focus on creating a program of Training for real jobs for Tingha. (BEST Employment, Joblink Plus and Jobs Australia)
BEST Employment commences fortnightly Client Service Outreach for Tingha Clients
TRI signs up with Job Link Plus for provision of a Work for the Dole Team to regenerate Tingha's Main Street Gardens.

Plans being finalized for commencement of streetscaping and installation of a Community owned/run Nursery for propagation of native species for Community Environmental Regeneration Projects.
Tingha's Second Community Clean Up under the "Tk4 Don't Rubbish Tingha - we all live here" initiative.

Funding Grants totalling almost $420,000 secure the Operational Cost for the Tingha Regeneration Program until September 2012. Funds were committed jointly from Uniting Church Synod Mission Resource Fund, Uniting Care and Uniting Aboriginal and Islander chrisitian Congress.

ABC Grandstand Radio - Live Broadcast from Tingha. Radio presenter Simone Thrutell and Visiting Celebrity Swimmer Geoff Huegill launch Tingha's "TK4 Healthy Choices- Healthy Lives" Program sponsored by Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal

TRI awarded a Border Rivers - Gwydir - Catchment Management Authority Grant of $21,500 to establish a Community Nursery to support Environmental Projects.
TRI wins the Judges Special Prize of $16,000 in the ABC/Grandstand - Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal National "Me-Change" competition based on our TK4 Health initiative.
TRI appointed Administrative Managers of Tingha Gems Caravan Park as a key initiative in it progressive regeneraiton as a base for building outstanding local tourism potential.

A new era begins for Tingha – Now with the full time focus of dedicated Community Regenerator Bob Neville, our Program is expected to take on a new momentum. There is growing support from within the community now and a new format of Tingha Regeneration Committee is being planned. Owners of empty and Main Street Properties are being encouraged to prepare them for new opportunities.

This will involve sourcing ideas from the community and creating an Artist’s Impression of how Tingha could look in transformation.

The first “Tingha Rocks” Community Newsletter is circulated. This publication is designed to fill a communication gap in the community and report of regeneration progress. Its name was chosen by the Community itself at the second Planning Meeting.

Formation of a Community Development Project Management Team to assess progressive regeneration projects and guide planning and implementation under a structured Project Management Process.
Community Regeneration Planning – 2 meetings – well attended and resulting in a formal Vision Plan (Regeneration Plan) that identified Tingha’s collective resources and opportunities.
